Great Communities Build Great Libraries

The Kennett Library is the soul of our community. It doesn’t matter who you are or what your background, the library welcomes you and has something for you. In 2019 the estimated value that the Kennett Library added to our community is close to $5 million. Here are some highlights:


The library’s Adult Literacy Program helped 761 clients through tutoring, ESL classes and office visits.


1,069 FREE programs, classes and events were offered for all ages including English and Spanish story times.


The library contributed 4,731 hours of one-on-one tutoring and helped 15 students earn American citizenship.


In 2019, there were 10,911 library cardholders and 110,545 visitors at the Kennett Library.


The library partnered with AHHAH (Arts Holding Hands and Hearts) placing Pop Up Libraries around town.


The library accumulated 5,132 Social Media Followers on Facebook and Instagram.

We’re building a new library!

The new Kennett Library will be a library to be proud of – our community living room. Twenty-first century libraries are places of exploration, innovation, discovery and learning. They engage and connect our community. They transform lives – every day!

Campaign details:

Square Footage: 31,485 square feet
Building Cost: $20 million
Estimated Start Date: October 2021
Estimate Completion Date: February 2023

Spacious first floor adult reading area.
Large, open children’s area.
Dedicated teen area.
Reading and study seating spread around the library.
Flexible and various sized rooms for meeting/studying/tutoring.

Outdoor terrace.
Laptop and computer plugins around the library.
State of the art audio/visual equipment in all meeting rooms.
A 110-seat auditorium.
Second floor Maker Spaces.
